Day 2: Switzerland

For the second day, we mainly spent the time in Mt. Titlus and Lucerne. The take home message for Switzerland is: Bring a damn tripod... The landscape was amazing, with a nice skyline from the Alps, lack of obtrusive high rise, and a nice and tranquil atmosphere. On the mountain, it was an amazing experience to just be at 10000 ft above sea level. The scenery was beautiful when it wasn't blocked by the clouds. Along the way, there were lots of cows on the mountain, even at 2.5 km above sea level. How long did it take them to walk so far up?? That aside, it was an amazing scenic experience despite the cloudiness Back at Lucerne, I was shocked by two things: Chinese tourists love luxury watche/Swiss army knives and Fondue is overrated. I never got the idea of luxury watches which sell based on throwing more rare metals and stones on it. I rather prefer to spend the money on an understated watched which performs up to my expectations. If I ever wear a watch that is. On the other hand, I was really interested in getting a Swiss army knife, but I wasn't sure if I was ever going to use it, and it felt like it would be too much to spend for something I wont use much. Ended my day with two types of fondue: Traditional Swiss Meat Fondue and Cheese Fondue. I totally felt that fondues weren't that special, they ether lacked flavour or covered everything with a cheesy flavour. Although I didn't research into Fondue, so I just picked a random restaurant, which may have been a bad apple. The one positive note: Cheese and bread is AMAZING so far. Very flavourful and awesome. If anything, it was the only thing that made the fondue worth it. But even then it didn't justfiy the 50 euro price tag for one. Overall love the scenery. Would love to do a road trip in Switzerland, where I can explore more. As always, ended with a flag pin and a thirst to explore more.

Day 1: Germany

Started off in Heidelberg, taking a walk through the beautiful streets. Also spent some time at a cafe, really surprised by how good the coffee was. And don't get me started on the bread... People who know me realized I have a thing for amazing bread, and this was definitely one of those times. There a lot of nice architecture and super scenic all around. Totally tempted to get some absinthe, but I wasn't sure if I can import back to Canada. Ended up at Lake Titisee, where it was a good experience for taking a look at the scene and souvenier shopping. Tried a German knuckle, and some desserts. Overall Germany was a lot of really nice scenes.

Auberge Du Pommier

A scenic gem hidden right beside industrial buildings. This French themed restaurant is an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera for the visit, so these photos aren't doing the food justice. Moving on, the food was pretty good, with the dessert feeling a bit lackluster. What always amazes me at these classy restaurant is the amazing bread. This time it came with a spread that was packed with flavour and made butter look no where near as good.

Millie Creperie

The best part about living in Toronto: the different neighbourhoods that have a wide variety of culture. I love these small exploration walks where I discover new things along the route. Today I came across a Japanese themed crepe store. I didn't try their crepes since I did have a big lunch. But I did try their parfait, which was pretty good. The gelato was better at Kikou but this was definitely a refreshing place to go to, with their unique combinations.

School Food

A Korean restaurant at causeway bay.  The background story is that in Korea, there are street food stalls in front of schools, and this restaurants brings that food to the public in a restaurant setting.  Some of their dishes include spicy rice cake, "korean" style seaweed rolls (Mari).   Their spicy rice cake would definitely be the favourite of one of my korean obsessed friend :) but their mari are really good as well.  Definitely worth a visit.  Favourite Mari there was definitely the squid ink mari, its really flavourful, and a hint of sweet and sour with a chewy texture.
